Niki Landau

Peace Building and Theatre

Facilitator, Trainer and Management Consultant

Niki Landau is a professional actor, playwright, and facilitator in conflict resolution. She combines theatre and peacebuilding in her work including melding the two disciplines in her award-winning play about conflict and dialogue in the Middle East, Territories.

Trained in alternative dispute resolution, community mediation, and family mediation, Niki has mediated family and community conflicts, and has entered national organizations at the highest levels to help resolve disputes. She has offered training and coaching on a variety of workshop subjects, including peacebuildling, conflict resolution, communication skills, managing angry clients, screening for domestic violence, and diversity and communication.

Internationally, Niki has been part of the Compassionate Listening Project, a grassroots peacemaking initiative in the Middle East. Niki was trained as a Compassionate Listening Facilitator and has used those approaches in numerous international and organizational contexts. Her emphasis on compassion informs her teaching and her style of dispute resolution, and is extremely effective in dealing with people caught in escalating conflicts.

The use of theatre in exploring conflict is an ancient practice, and Niki combines her practice of theatre and dispute resolution in many ways, from working with masks with Palestinian and Israeli teenagers at Peace Camp Canada, to using storytelling and role playing to raise awareness, practice empathy, and develop dispute resolution skills in high-conflict areas.
