Trainer, Facilitator and Researcher Consultant

Jo is a Consultant for Women’s Rights, Peace and Security (WPS) issues. She has international and Canadian experience working for UN agencies and not-for-profit organisations. She has specialized knowledge in Gender Equality, Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), Security Council Resolutions on WPS (1325, 1820, 1888 and 1889), conflict resolution, facilitating inter-cultural and religious dialogue as well as using social media as a tool for conflict resolution.

Jo brings experience in training, facilitation, coaching, mediation, research and analysis as well as project implementation (including strategic planning, mapping resources, proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation, presenting analysis and managing teams).

Having worked at the grassroots level, Jo has an intimate understanding of challenges faced by women in under-developed and developing countries. She combines this with experience at an international level working on the implementation and adherence to women’s human rights. She has specific knowledge of women’s rights implementation in countries in the African continent in addition to Afghanistan, Canada, Haiti, India, Bangladesh, Jordan and Indonesia.

Jo has a Masters Degree (MA) in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford, a certificate in Interpersonal Mediation from St. Stephen’s Community Centre, a Certificate in International Humanitarian Law from the University of Ottawa and is currently a Fellow for Soliya, an organisation focused on in intercultural and religious dialogue through new and social media.
